Back and Neck Pain physiotherapy

The majority of the population will suffer with back and or neck pain at some point in their lifetime. It is estimated that over 80% of the population will experience low back pain at some point in their lives. Here at LC physiotherapy & Pilates we aim to listen, treat and prevent further exacerbations of your pain.

We use a variety of treatments to achieve this and the approach will be individual to your needs.

Sports Injuries

Lucy has vast experience in treating a range of sporting injuries from a variety of sports including football, rugby, hockey and ballet to name just a few. Lucy has treated a variety of athletes from elite sportsmen and women to amateur athletes.

A thorough assessment is vital to diagnose the injury. Following this we then provide an extensive rehabilitation programme to allow you a full return to sport. We also aim to identify the predisposing factors that might be contributing to the injury and address these with appropriate rehabilitation.

Post operative physiotherapy

Lucy has a wealth of experience of treating a wide range of post operative conditions. While she was the lead clinician at The BMI Priory hospital in Birmingham, she was responsible for the care of many post operative patients. These included spinal stabilisations, total hip, knee, shoulder and ankle replacements, ACL repairs, hip, ankle, knee, shoulder arthroscopies and rotator cuff repairs. Lucy has a good working relationship with the local Orthopaedic surgeons.

1:1 Pilates rehabilitation

Lucy is a qualified APPI instructor and has been delivering 1:1 Pilates for over 9 years. This is a custom made Pilates session aimed at your individual needs.

Physio led Pilates classes

Lucy delivers small group Pilates classes (maximum of 6 people in each class) at Maes Y Coed Community Centre. She runs a variety of classes for all levels of abilities from beginners to advanced.

Acupuncture

Lucy is registered with the AACP and follows a western approach to acupuncture. Acupuncture can provide pain relief and help to release muscle tension.

Physiotherapy

Following a detailed assessment and physical examination, here at LC Physiotherapy & Pilates we aim to get to the root of your problem. This may not always be the “painful spot.” We look at how the whole body moves so we can provide a longer term fix. This can be provided by manual therapy “hands on treatment” and exercise based rehabilitation which may include Pilates rehabilitation.

Virtual physiotherapy

Lucy can also offer a virtual consultation via the zoom platform. This is suitable for people who wish to have a consultation virtually rather than coming directly into the clinic. This is a great option for people who are shielding due to COVID 19.

A virtual appointment will be similar to a face to face appointment in terms of offering a detailed subjective assessment as well as and an objective examination using the camera facility. Using the camera, we will observe your movement patterns to look for abnormalities. Obviously ,no palpation will be able to be performed due to the virtual nature of the consultation and treatment will be exercise based rather than “hands on treatment.”

The exercises will be demonstrated by the physiotherapist and then Lucy will check how you are performing them.
